About 255 MB. Most of it is the gazetteer (with the postcodes of 122 countries) and the models for face recognition and background removal, so the program works entirely without an internet connection.
Installing
The installer puts FamilyTree under your own user account, so you do not need administrator rights. Windows may show a warning for a new program (“Windows protected your PC”); choose More info and then Run anyway.
Portable version
Rather not install anything, or take FamilyTree along on a USB stick? Unzip the ZIP
(about 257 MB) wherever you like and start FamilyTree.exe. Because a
portable.txt sits next to the program, FamilyTree also keeps its settings in
that folder (recently opened files, language, …) and not on the computer. Your
family tree and photos stay wherever you keep them — put them on the same stick if
you want to take everything along.
Terms
Free for personal use. FamilyTree itself is closed source; no source code is available.
The program includes face recognition models from InsightFace that are released for non-commercial use only. FamilyTree may therefore not be sold or used commercially. All third-party components and their terms are listed under Third-party components.

Your data
FamilyTree edits your existing GEDCOM file and makes a backup copy every time it saves. If you first want to know exactly what it writes into your file, read the GEDCOM format.
